Therapy Classification Intern / Pharmacogenomics Intern

With the advent of genomic sequencing, we can finally decode and process our genetic makeup. We now have more data than ever before but providers don't have the infrastructure or expertise to make sense of this data. Here at Tempus, we believe the greatest promise for the detection and treatment of neurological and psychiatric conditions lies in the deep understanding of molecular activity for disease initiation, progression, and efficacious treatment based on the discovery of unique biomarkers.

We're on a mission to connect an entire ecosystem to redefine how genomic data is used in clinical settings. Our team is passionate and focused on leveraging clinical and genomics data to guide data driven treatment decision in psychiatric and neurological care. As an intern with our team, you will collaborate with product, research, and business development teams to curate our knowledge database for gene-drug interactions in medications used to treat psychiatric illnesses and neurological disorders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Source, summarize and present primary literature to determine gene-drug and drug-drug interactions for psychiatric and neurological medications
  • Stay up to date on investigational new drugs in clinical trials and suspected gene-drug interactions for these new therapies
  • Curate, structure and review key insights from primary literature to feed Tempus products with on-staff clinical geneticists, variant scientists and pharmD team members

Required Qualifications:

  • Heightened attention to detail and aptitude for thorough investigation
  • Familiarity with pharmacogenomics and prior experience learning about pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic gene-drug interactions and drug-drug interactions
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to an audience with a wide range of expertise
  • Education in biomedical engineering, pre-medicine, human genetics, computational biology, pharmacology, or other related fields

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Received or on-track to receive PhD, PharmD, MS, MD, or other related education in pharmacology, psychiatry, psychology, neurology or other related fields
  • Participated in research related to pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, psychiatric/neurologic diagnostics/treatment, or other related fields
  • Familiarity with genetic and treatment references and guidelines such as CPIC, CIViC, etc...
